Just a short update from the Flourish Team.
Come to the Fis exhibition on Wednesday 6:00pm – 9:00pm or Thursday 12:00pm – 9:00pm at the new Carroll’s Building DKIT!

We got interviewed by a Ireland’s newest community and news, reviews and previews site for all things gamer and geek, the @rcade.
It was fun and it was nice to see that others were interested in the project too. You can read the full interview by clicking the link below.
Just a sample of some of the characters interacting in Flourish.
We’ve just submitted the software side of the project and we have to say it’s a huge relief. We’ve been working 9 – 5 everyday over the past two weeks in college and we think that our hard work has paid off. All the animations are done, the programming is done and all the audio is done. With over 2000 lines of actionscript it’s easy to say that this is the biggest project any of us have ever worked on.
Fís, the Public Exhibition is on next Wednesday and you are all invited to come see the shiney new Carrolls Building and all the cool end of year projects from 3rd and 4th Year multimedia, 4th year Computer Games Development and 4th year Video and Film students.
More information is available over at http://creativemediaresearch.com/ and out of all 19 exhibitions on show we made it onto the poster!

We’ve went though a few different prototypes when it have come to the actual interaction with the screen. We went from an IR pen, to a IR finger pointer and back to an IR pen.
As you can see in the video above, it works brilliantly. We are so relieved that it works so well
Also, we’ve come up with a FlowChart of how Flourish will work and how all the character will interact with each other. It’s a bit messy but I think it’s easy enough to understand. It has helped us iron out what we need and what’s missing in the audio and animation departments. There are a few little things we have to sort out yet though.
I’m just takin’ a break. The Flourish Team are all preparing for exams at the moment and so no work will be done to Flourish untill they are all over (Friday, 14th of May 2010).
Don’t be too sad now, you hear?

We had our demo on Tuesday and we weren’t too enthusiastic about how it went. We then got some feedback from our Supervisor, Caroline O Sullivan, and she said that we did fine. She pointed out some of the feedback that was given that we can use to make out finished project even better.
I forgot that I can update this blog using my android phone… Whoops :/
So where are we?
We had a mini demo yesterday with our Supervisor to prepare us for the demo in front of 8 lecturers in our course next Tuesday.
The Demo is an opportunity to er… demo our visuals, audio, programming and hardware and show the lecturers what we’ve done and what’s yet to do.
We have all the characters digitised and most of the animations done. Programming is a work in progress. Its slow work but nothing I can’t handle. Its pretty basic code but just a lot of it.
Audio wise, its all recorded. Just need to get a little more of it edited. We made a trip down to the Dundalk FM radio station where Ros Madigan has a show every week (Mondays @ 21:00
) to record the last of our audio 2 weeks ago. It was fun as always, using whatever we could find to make cool sounds. This time the sounds included balloons and Patrick’s amazing voice acting.
*goes back to programming*
